A high-level Orthodox meeting in Bucharest highlighted unity, cooperation, and shared spiritual milestones.

BUCHAREST — His Beatitude Patr. Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church received Metr. Emmanuel of Chalcedon at the Patriarchal Residence on April 30, 2026, in a meeting emphasizing inter-Orthodox cooperation. This was reported by Basilica News Agency, the official media arm of the Romanian Patriarchate.

Metr. Emmanuel, representing the Ecumenical Patriarchate, was accompanied by Archimandrite Aetios Nikiforos. Patr. Daniel welcomed the delegation warmly and underscored the longstanding friendly relations between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, highlighting the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration among sister Churches.

Discussions during the visit addressed shared concerns and upcoming anniversary events planned for 2026 within the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The meeting also reflected broader efforts to strengthen unity and communication across the Orthodox world.

At its conclusion, Patr. Daniel expressed gratitude for the 2025 canonization of four Romanian Athonite saints, noting its significance for deepening spiritual ties with Mt. Athos and reinforcing Orthodox unity.
