Orthodox missionary pioneer Dan Christopulos reposed after a lifetime devoted to spreading the Gospel and serving others.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) is mourning the repose of Dan Christopulos, a pioneering Orthodox missionary and longtime servant of the Church who fell asleep in the Lord on May 30, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.

Just one day earlier, OCMC had asked the faithful to pray for Christopulos as he faced a serious health struggle. The organization described him as a beloved friend and brother in Christ whose life of missionary service inspired generations of Orthodox Christians. Surrounded by family, he reposed peacefully at home.

Christopulos holds a unique place in OCMC history as the organization's first missionary. In 1985, he answered the call to serve in Kenya, helping establish what would grow into decades of Orthodox missionary outreach around the world. Beyond missionary work, he served as a priest, a representative for International Orthodox Christian Charities, and a police chaplain. Those who knew him remembered his kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment to sharing the hope of Christ's Resurrection.

OCMC extended condolences to his wife, Patty, their children, grandchildren, and extended family. While expressing sorrow at his passing, the organization emphasized the Christian hope found in the Resurrection and gave thanks for Christopulos' lifelong dedication to the Church and to Orthodox believers across the globe.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Elder Joseph of St. Nektarios Monastery reposed in the Lord.
