Met. Saba Celebrates Nativity with Two Communities
Metropolitan Saba celebrated Nativity in Brooklyn and Englewood, emphasizing Christ’s Incarnation while welcoming choirs in a cherished annual tradition.
ENGLEWOOD, NJ — On December 24, 2025, His Eminence Met. Saba celebrated the Nativity of our Lord at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn, New York, preaching on the deeper meaning of the feast. Emphasizing that “Christmas” is more accurately the Feast of the Incarnation, he reminded the faithful that God took flesh to dwell among humanity and save it. “The angel told Joseph Christ is called Emmanuel, ‘God is with us,’” said Metropolitan Saba. “We must prepare our hearts to receive Him and remove the obstacles that keep Him from dwelling within us.”
Continuing a long-standing tradition, Met. Saba also welcomed the choirs of St. George Church in Little Falls, New Jersey, to the Archdiocese Headquarters in Englewood on December 22. The choirs performed Nativity chants, four-part hymns, and traditional Christmas songs, delighting the Metropolitan and reaffirming a practice dating back to the 1980s when choirs would surprise Metropolitan Philip after rehearsals. This annual celebration strengthens the connection between the faithful and the Archdiocese leadership.
