The Metropolis of Lemnos and SAEK Lemnos marked Christmas by providing 200 hot meals to those in need through their fifth annual “Meals of Love” charitable initiative.

LEMNOS, GREECE — The Holy Metropolis of Lemnos and Agios Efstratios, in cooperation with the Lemnos School of Higher Vocational Training (SAEK), once again carried out the charitable initiative “Meals of Love” in the spirit of the Nativity of Christ.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, the initiative provided two hundred hot meals to people in need on the island in preparation for the Christmas feast. The meals were prepared with care by SAEK Lemnos instructors and students and distributed through local parishes with the blessing and support of the Church.

Met. Ierotheos of Lemnos and Agios Efstratios conveyed his paternal blessings and expressed warm gratitude to all who contributed, stressing that tangible love for one’s neighbor is a living testimony of the Christian faith.

The local Church also praised SAEK Lemnos Director Ioulia Lygda, the school’s administration, instructors, and students, as well as Lemnos Hospital Administrator Dimitrios Manos, for their spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility, offering prayers that God may strengthen every work of love and service to humanity.

Previously, the UOJ reported an Orthodox mission in Nicaragua bringing food and resources to its local community.
