The KALEB family center in Chemnitz was vandalized for the second time with politically motivated pro-abortion graffiti, prompting a police investigation and renewed security measures.

CHEMNITZ, GERMANY — The KALEB family center on Augustusburger Street in Chemnitz was targeted for the second time in a politically motivated attack on Christmas Eve. Unknown assailants threw paint-filled bags at the building and sprayed slogans like “Legalize Abortion” on its façade and windows, causing around €4,000 in damage. A similar attack occurred in 2023.

Police have classified the act as extremism-motivated, with state protection authorities investigating. Paint remnants were recovered, and the slogans have been temporarily covered pending removal.

The Christian-oriented association, which has operated in Chemnitz since 1990, runs a state-recognized pregnancy counseling center but does not issue abortion counseling certificates. Managing Director Ernst von Heyking said that KALEB primarily supports families through courses, counseling, and social programs.

Following the attack, KALEB has reopened and is considering additional security measures, including surveillance cameras and a perimeter fence.

Previously, the UOJ reported that the Moscow Synod had declared a day of prayer against abortion.
