Appeal Hearing Set for Metr. Arseny
The Dnipro Court of Appeal will review the 60-day extension of Metr. Arseny’s detention on February 12 in Kryvyi Rih.
DNIPRO, UKRAINE — A hearing in the case of Metr. Arseny of Svyatogorsk is scheduled to take place on February 12, 2026, at the Dnipro Court of Appeal in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. The court will consider appeals filed by the hierarch’s legal team challenging the recent extension of his pretrial detention.
The appeal concerns a January 22, 2026, decision by the Chechelivsky District Court of Dnipro to prolong Metr. Arseny’s preventive measure in the form of detention for an additional 60 days. His lawyers argue against the continued detention and are seeking to have the ruling overturned.
The session is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the courthouse located at 24 Myru Avenue in Kryvyi Rih. In a public message, the brethren of the Svyatogorsk Lavra called on the faithful to pray for the imprisoned Metropolitan and his monastic community.
Previously, the UOJ reported that a Ukrainian MP warned of the "slow killing" of Metr. Arseniy in detention.
