St. Vladimir’s Seminary is launching a month-long masterclass to help clergy root their preaching in daily prayer and spiritual discipline.

YONKERS, NY — St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary has announced its inaugural Homiletics Masterclass Series, titled “Prayerful Preaching Preparation,” aimed at helping clergy cultivate a sustainable spirituality of preaching. The month-long program will run March 5–26, 2026, with live Zoom sessions held Thursday evenings and course access available from February 26 through April 24.

Designed for both new and experienced preachers, the course seeks to integrate homily preparation into daily prayer and spiritual study, encouraging sermons that flow organically from a life of repentance and reflection. Weekly themes include prayerful preparation, discerning the call to repentance, longing for Christ, and returning to Christ.

The instructor, Rev. Dr. Lucas Lynn Christensen, serves as Assistant Director of the seminary’s Compelling Preaching Project. Tuition is $200, enrollment is limited to 15 participants, and registration closes February 26.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Tikhon celebrated the Feast of the Three Hierarchs at St. Vladimir's Seminary.
