A 10-day visit deepened bonds and expanded cooperation between the Albanian Church and its sister Archdiocese in America.

TIRANA, ALBANIA — His Grace Nikodhim, Bishop of Boston and of the Albanian Orthodox Archdiocese in America, made a 10-day visit to Albania from February 9–18, 2026, strengthening ties between the Archdiocese and the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. He was accompanied by Chancellor Stavrofor Ikonom Fr. Mark Doku, V. Rev. Kakhaber (Kai) Kurtanidze, and Finance Director Mathew Sotir.

On February 10, the delegation was received at the Archdiocese of Tirana by Abp. John of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania. In Korça, Bp. Nikodhim met with Metr. Anastasi at the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral and visited the historic Church of the “Life-giving Source,” currently under restoration.

The delegation also toured the Monastery of the Assumption in Boboshtica and the Monastery of St. John the Forerunner in Voskopoja, both active in youth ministry. On February 15, Bp. Nikodhim spoke at the Resurrection Cathedral in Tirana on the theme of the Last Judgment, followed by discussion with clergy and faithful.

Previously, the UOJ reported that stolen icons were returned to the Albanian Orthodox Church after 14 years.
