Florida Parish Revives Youth Education Program
A revived church school in North Port reflects parish growth and a renewed commitment to Orthodox youth formation.
NORTH PORT, FL — The church school at Church of St. Sava resumed classes on March 22, the Fourth Sunday of Great Lent, marking a renewed focus on youth formation within the growing parish community.
With the blessing of Bp. Irinej, the school reopened after a pause, welcoming about ten students, with more expected to enroll in the coming months. The program is open to children of all backgrounds, reflecting the parish’s increasing diversity, including American converts and families from various Orthodox traditions.
The parish credited longtime contributors for building its youth programs and highlighted new teachers now leading instruction. Clergy emphasized that the school will offer religious education alongside language, culture, and community life.
The reopening comes as the parish prepares for Pascha, underscoring a broader spiritual renewal within the community.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Orthodoxy for Kids launched “Sophia” educational videos.
