Abp. Nathaniel celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the monastic community and faithful at the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate’s Dormition Monastery in Michigan.
RIVES JUNCTION, MI — On Sunday, September 6, Abp. Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy at the Dormition of the Mother of God Orthodox Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan. His Eminence was present with the monastic community and faithful on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost.
The monastery, under the spiritual leadership of Mother Abbess Gabriella Ursache, is one of three monasteries belonging to the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America. Established in 1987, it has served as a center of prayer and monastic life, as well as a destination for pilgrims.
Several clergy assisted Abp. Nathaniel during the Divine Liturgy. They included the monastery priest, Very Rev. Fr. John Konkle; Rev. Protodeacon Laike Misikir; Hdn. Benedict Oancea; and visiting clergy.
The Archbishop's visit brought him into fellowship with the monastery's monastic community and faithful gathered for the Sunday services. The Dormition Monastery continues its ministry of prayer and hospitality under the guidance of Abbess Gabriella.
The celebration took place amid the monastery's ongoing life of worship and pilgrimage, highlighting its role within the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America and its service to Orthodox Christians in the region.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Holy Dormition Monastery hosted Abp. Nathaniel for the Theophany Feast.
