Diocese Announces 2026 'Support Our Seminarians' Month
The Diocese of the Midwest has begun its September campaign to help seminarians and their families manage rising educational and living costs.
CHICAGO, IL — The Diocese of the Midwest has launched its annual “Support Our Seminarians” campaign for September with the blessing of Abp. Daniel of Chicago, who is encouraging the faithful to assist seminarians as they continue their education and preparation for ministry.
The campaign will culminate in “SOS Sunday” on September 27, with donations collected from parishes and individuals going directly to seminarians to help cover educational and living expenses. Organizers said the effort is particularly important as the costs associated with education and daily life continue to rise for seminarians and their families.
Parishes throughout the diocese have been provided with SOS flyers that can be downloaded and distributed during September to help raise awareness of the campaign. Each parish may determine how it wishes to collect and raise funds for its seminarians.
Individuals who wish to contribute may donate through their local parish, mail a check to the Diocese of the Midwest, or make a contribution through the diocese’s online donation system. The campaign is intended to provide seminarians and their families with financial relief while supporting their continued formation.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the OCA sought $60,000 to support the Thriving in Ministry program.
