Metr. Saba has opened the 52nd annual Lenten Food for Hungry People campaign, urging parishes to unite fasting with active charity.

NEW YORK — The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America has launched its 52nd annual Food for Hungry People and Charitable Outreach Campaign for Great Lent 2026, calling on clergy and faithful to renew their commitment to mercy and almsgiving.

In his Lenten message, Metr. Saba urged parishes to participate wholeheartedly in the longstanding ministry, which provides concentrated support to food programs and humanitarian initiatives in local communities and abroad. Quoting Sts. Gregory of Nyssa and John Chrysostom, he emphasized that true fasting is inseparable from charity and personal service to those in need.

Now in its 52nd year, the appeal invites donations through local parishes as the faithful prepare for Pascha on April 12. The campaign aims to transform the Lenten fast into tangible acts of love for those who hunger throughout the year.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba spoke on the true meaning of the Church Fathers.
