Orthodox Christians for Life Organizes 6th Annual Baby-Shower Drive
Orthodox parishes nationwide are uniting to support expectant mothers through the National Orthodox Baby Shower.
RIVERSIDE, CA — Orthodox Christians for Life is hosting the 6th annual National Orthodox Baby Shower, a diaper and baby-item drive running from March 25, the feast of the Annunciation, through April. The initiative supports expectant mothers facing difficult circumstances, helping them carry pregnancies to term.
The organization explained the inspiration behind the drive: “As we approach the Annunciation and meditate on the greatest ‘unexpected pregnancy’ of all time, let us also remember those women whose circumstances leave them feeling terrified of pregnancy—feeling that abortion is their best (or only) option. How can we come alongside these women and imbue them with the strength and confidence needed to protect and carry their children until birth?”
Last year, 100 parishes from eight jurisdictions collected 75,000 diapers, 25,000 packages of wipes, 4,200 baby clothes and shoes, cribs, strollers, and other essential items, which were donated to local pregnancy resource centers.
Parishes can register and supporters can donate online through the Orthodox Christians for Life website.
Previously, the UOJ reported that that Orthodox faithful were out in force at the Georgia March for Life in Atlanta.
