OISM Spring Retreat Brings Together Orthodox Seminarians in Pennsylvania
Seminarians from across jurisdictions gathered in Pennsylvania for a retreat focused on evangelization, fellowship, and shared Orthodox witness.
MERCER, PA — Christ the Savior Seminary hosted the Orthodox Inter Seminary Movement (OISM) spring retreat during the second weekend after Pascha at Camp Nazareth, gathering seminarians under the theme “The Century of Evangelization Has Begun," — a nod to Metr. Saba of the Antiochian Archdiocese. The annual event brought together participants for worship, fellowship, and theological reflection.
More than six Orthodox seminaries were represented, including Christ the Savior Orthodox Seminary (ACROD), St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (OCA), Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary (ROCOR), Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (GOA), St. Herman Orthodox Theological Seminary (OCA), and St. Sophia’s Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary (UOC of USA). His Eminence Metr. Gregory of Nyssa was present throughout the retreat.
The program featured lectures by Fr. Alexander Hurtsellers and Protopresbyter Peter Paproski. Events included a Saturday evening gathering following Vespers, where Dcn. Benjamin Franks of St. Vladimir’s won a hot-wing-eating contest and was elected OISM president. The retreat concluded with Divine Liturgy.
Previously, the UOJ reported that St. Vladimir’s Seminary launched a four-week online course on Orthodox Christian counseling.
