Pittsburgh Cathedral to Host Abortion Awareness Event
An Orthodox cathedral event in Pittsburgh will combine prayer and medical commentary on chemical abortion and life advocacy.
PITTSBURGH — The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Pennsylvania will host a June 3, 2026 event addressing chemical abortion, featuring a prayer service and educational talk led by Dr. Anita Showalter, who is involved in abortion-reversal advocacy.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a Moleben service for victims of abortion, followed at 7:45 p.m. by a lecture titled “Chemical Abortion and Why It’s Not Healthcare.” Refreshments are planned after the presentation, and the gathering is open to attendees interested in life issues and Orthodox Christian perspectives on medical ethics.
Dr. Showalter is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who serves in academic medicine and works with the Network of Life Abortion Pill Reversal Program. She is focused on promoting life at all stages and training advocates for pro-life initiatives. The event is associated with Orthodox Christians for Life.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Sen. Josh Hawley introduced a bill to revoke approval of the abortion pill.
