UOC Sends Humanitarian Supplies to Eastern Ukraine
Aid collected in western Ukraine will support monks and civilians near the front line in Donetsk.
SVIATOHIRSK, UKRAINE — About 30 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra and nearby villages in eastern Ukraine on Oct. 16.
Volunteers from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s (UOC) Chernivtsi and Bukovyna Eparchy transported the supplies with the blessing of Metr. Meletiy. The shipment was collected through donations from local clergy and parishioners.
The aid was unloaded at the monastery’s St. John of Shanghai Skete in Adamivka village. The supplies will then be distributed to those in need, including the monastery’s monks and residents of surrounding communities.
The delivery follows an earlier aid shipment from the same eparchy in August. Orthodox believers from dioceses across Ukraine regularly provide the monastery and local residents with food, clothing, and other essential supplies.
Previously, the UOJ Reported that the Sviatohirsk Lavra celebrated the memory of its memorable fathers.
