Holy Trinity in Asheville welcomed 24 new members into the Orthodox Church as about 40 others continue their catechism.
ASHEVILLE, NC — Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Asheville received 24 people into the Orthodox Church over the weekend of October 24–25, as the parish continues to see growing interest in the Orthodox Christian faith.
On Saturday, October 24, 23 people entered the Church through Holy Baptism. One additional person was received through Holy Chrismation on Sunday, October 25, before the Divine Liturgy, according to Fr. Ioannis Capones, who reported the news on October 30.
The parish also has approximately 40 people currently participating in its catechism program, with new faces continuing to attend each week. The growing number of catechumens reflects continued interest in Orthodox Christianity within the Asheville community.
The parish gave thanks for the new members and asked for prayers for those beginning their lives in the Church, expressing hope that God would guide and strengthen them in their Orthodox faith. “Glory to God for all things!” the parish stated.
Previously, the UOJ reported that an Arizona Antiochian parish reported 158 catechumens.
