Orthodox filmmakers and Christian artists will bring films and discussions on saints, symbolism, and faith to the Quo Vadis festival in Iași.
IAȘI, ROMANIA — Orthodox Christian filmmakers and artists will take part in the third Quo Vadis International Film Festival, scheduled for November 10–14, 2026, in Iași. Among the participants are director Yelena Popovic, Christian symbolism researcher Jonathan Pageau, and Georgian filmmaker George Ovashvili.
Popovic, director of Man of God, will present her latest film, Moses the Black, which tells the story of St. Moses the Ethiopian and his transformation from a life of violence to repentance and holiness.
Pageau will deliver a November 14 conference titled “Beyond Entertainment: Symbol and Faith in Cinema.” Known for his work exploring Christian symbolism in contemporary culture, he will discuss the significance of Christian themes and symbolic narratives in film and popular entertainment.
The festival’s film selection additionally includes The Call, a TRINITAS TV production about St. Paraskeva. Produced by Archdeacon Gheorghe-Cristian Popa, the film was written and directed by Mara Ionescu and stars Alexandra Sidoreac.
The festival will feature 30 films and 35 international guests, alongside discussions, photographic projects, and competitions for emerging filmmakers.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Jonathan Pageau inspired a North Carolina parish with a vision for sacred art.
