Following his nomination by diocesan delegates, Bp. Gerasim has been elected to lead the OCA's Diocese of the South, with his enthronement set for November 14.

YONKERS, NY — The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) elected Bp. Gerasim as Bishop of Dallas and the South on November 2, 2026, formally confirming the choice of clergy and lay delegates at a diocesan nominating assembly earlier this year.

The election took place during the Holy Synod's meeting at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yonkers, New York, under the presidency of Metr. Tikhon. Following the election, Metr. Tikhon directed that Bp. Gerasim immediately be commemorated under his new title during divine services throughout the diocese.

Bp. Gerasim was nominated for the position on July 24 at a Special Nominating Assembly held at St. Justin Martyr Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He has served as locum tenens of the Diocese of the South since July, following the retirement of Abp. Alexander.

Consecrated to the episcopacy on June 29, 2021, Bp. Gerasim previously served as Bishop of Fort Worth and as an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of the South.

His enthronement as Bishop of Dallas and the South will take place November 14 at St. Seraphim Cathedral in Dallas, Texas. Festivities will begin the previous evening with Vespers at 5 p.m. and a reception at 6 p.m. Saturday's schedule includes the greeting and vesting of the Bishop at 9 a.m., followed by the Divine Liturgy and enthronement at 9:30 a.m. A festive Texas barbecue brunch will follow the service.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Bp. Gerasim was named locum tenens of the Diocese of the South.
