Christian Orthodox Coalition Calls for Action Amid Syrian Crisis

March 19, 2025 – The Christian Orthodox Coalition in the United States has issued a powerful statement condemning the ongoing persecution of Orthodox Christians in war-torn Syria.

In a press release shared this morning, the organization decried the atrocities committed against Orthodox Christians in Syria, emphasizing the sacredness of all human life and the urgent need for international intervention.

"Amidst the ongoing conflict in Syria, the Christian Orthodox Coalition firmly condemns the slaughter of Orthodox Christians in the region... The Christian Orthodox Coalition calls on the international community to act immediately to address the crisis in Syria and ensure the safety of Orthodox Christians. We urge world leaders to work together to end the violence and provide humanitarian aid to those displaced or affected by the conflict."

The organization’s passionate plea underscores the dire situation faced by many Christian communities in the region, who continue to suffer at the hands of government allied jihadists.

The coalition's statement reminds us that though our community may be small, it is far from powerless. By transcending jurisdictional boundaries, Orthodox Christians can speak up for those who cannot.

Established in 2024, the Christian Orthodox Coalition in the United States, or, COCUS, is a non-profit organization whose stated mission is to, "Educate, Empower, & Engage collective Christian Orthodox Voices in the cultural & social discourse as well as the civic process via the conservative virtues of our faith."

While the organization is focused on engaging with and representing the interests of America's Orthodox Christian communities, it welcomes the participation of all traditionally minded American Christians in the pursuit of common aims in the cultural and political spheres.
