After the Baptism Photos, the Parish’s Work Begins
Nine baptisms at a Montana parish invite a closer look at the patient work that turns newcomers into a lasting church community.
On October 14, the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, St. Herman Serbian Church in Kalispell, Montana shared joyous news: the baptism of nine parishioners into the Orthodox Church. The newly illumined ranged in age from infants to grown men and were split across four sets of godparents. Serving as godmother for the largest group of girls was the wife of Priest Panayiotis Tekosis, Matushka Kathryn.
St. Herman Church is a relatively young parish, founded by several families in 2014. Fr. Panayiotis has served there since 2021, and the parish has continued to grow under his leadership. At first, the mission served in an old church building converted into an Orthodox temple. In May of this year, UOJ reported on the groundbreaking at the church’s new property.
