Orthodox Christians for Life will take part in major pro-life marches nationwide this January, with Orthodox hierarchs leading prayers and affirming the Church’s ongoing witness to the sanctity of human life.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Orthodox Christians for Life will join hundreds of thousands of participants at pro-life marches across the United States in January, including the March for Life in Washington, D.C., on January 23 and the Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 24.

At the National Mall, Metr. Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America will lead a prayer service ahead of the March for Life, while Bp. Irenej of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America will offer the invocation at the rally. In San Francisco, newly elected Bp. Vasily of the OCA Diocese of San Francisco and the West will lead the Orthodox prayer service at Civic Center Plaza and deliver the rally invocation.

Orthodox participants will gather beforehand for Divine Liturgy and breakfast at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Washington and Holy Trinity Cathedral in San Francisco. Additional Orthodox Christians for Life groups will march and pray in cities including San Diego, Indianapolis, Austin, Tucson, Boise, and Topeka.

Executive Director Emily Yocum said the marches renew commitment to “create a culture of life,” noting that more than 60 parishes are now affiliated with the organization.

Previously, the UOJ reported that pro-life leaders rejected Trump's call for Hyde "flexibility."
