PANAMA CITY, PANAMA — Michael Karloutsos, son of Grand Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Alexander Karloutsos and Presvytera Xanthi, was ordained to the diaconate on Sunday, February 1, at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Panama.
The ordination was celebrated by His Beatitude Theodore, Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, during his official visit to Panama, with Metr. Iakovos of Mexico assisting at the service. Clergy and faithful gathered to witness the ordination during the Divine Liturgy.
Speaking to The National Herald, Alexander Karloutsos described the ordination as an unexpected blessing, noting his son’s lifelong love for the Divine Liturgy. He emphasized that Michael intends to serve as a deacon permanently, assisting in liturgical life and supporting the mission of the Church, particularly alongside Metr. Iakovos, as the Metropolis of Mexico continues its renewal.
