Metr. Saba Concludes Texas Visit with Ordinations in Houston
Metr. Saba concluded his Texas visit in Houston with ordinations, pastoral exhortations, and outreach to Orthodox medical professionals.
HOUSTON, TX — Metr. Saba of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese concluded his archpastoral visit to Texas on February 1–2 with the celebration of the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord at St. George Church in Houston.
Welcomed by Archpriest James Shadid, clergy, and faithful from across the region, Metr. Saba presided at the hierarchal Divine Liturgy marking the feast that commemorates Christ’s meeting with His creation in the person of St. Simeon the God-receiver. During the service, he ordained Dn. Habib McGee to the priesthood and John Zastany to the diaconate.
Addressing the newly ordained, Metr. Saba emphasized that “the Temple of God is the people of God,” exhorting them to serve with patience, joy, and a focus on the salvation of their flock, even amid obstacles and disappointments.
Following Great Vespers, Metr. Saba met with local medical professionals as part of the Fellowship of St. Julian, an Antiochian network dedicated to pastoral care and healing ministry within parish life.
