St. Sava Church opened its 125th-anniversary celebrations with a regional Orthodox choir concert in Pennsylvania.
MCKEESPORT, PA — St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church officially launched its 125th-anniversary year with a choir concert on May 3 that brought together clergy, parishioners, and neighboring Orthodox communities in celebration of the historic milestone.
The concert featured performances by choirs from St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, and St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church. Organizers credited Choir Director Nicholas Medich for helping lead the successful opening event, which emphasized unity among regional Orthodox faithful and showcased the parish’s musical and spiritual heritage.
During the celebration, parish priest Fr. Proto Stevan “Stevo” Rocknage reflected on the church’s long history and expressed optimism for the anniversary year ahead. He said the coming months would highlight the parish’s Serbian heritage, Orthodox faith, and enduring community legacy.
The yearlong observance will culminate Nov. 6–7 with a formal celebration commemorating the parish’s 125 years of ministry in the McKeesport-Duquesne area.
