Fr. Paul Shafran Celebrates 104th Birthday in Trenton
Fr. Paul Shafran celebrated his 104th birthday surrounded by family, parishioners, and gratitude for a lifetime of faithful service.
TRENTON, NJ — Archpriest Paul Shafran, pastor emeritus of St. Vladimir Orthodox Church in Trenton, celebrated his 104th birthday on July 2, marking another remarkable milestone in a lifetime of service to the Orthodox Church. Family members and parishioners gathered over two celebrations to honor the longtime priest and give thanks for his many years of faithful ministry.
The first celebration took place at Fr. Paul's home, where his daughters organized a family gathering that included several relatives and two of his great-grandchildren. The festivities continued on Sunday, July 5, at St. Vladimir Church, where Fr. Volodymyr Chaikivskyi, the parish's pastor, joined parishioners and members of the Shafran family in recognizing the occasion. Following the singing of "Happy Birthday," Fr. Paul led those assembled in a rendition of "God Bless America" in honor of the United States' 250th anniversary.
A diocesan release concludes:
"We sincerely thank Father Paul for his long life of dedicated service to the Church, and we extend our best wishes and prayers to him for peace, health, and salvation! Mnogaya Leta!"
