OCA Diocese Invites Parish Educators to Online Collaboration Sessions
The Diocese of New York and New Jersey is bringing church school leaders together to strengthen Orthodox education through collaboration and shared experience.
SYOSSET, N.Y. — The Department of Christian Education of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey is inviting parish church school teachers, coordinators, and other religious education volunteers to participate in a pair of virtual meet-and-greet sessions later this month aimed at strengthening Orthodox Christian education across the diocese.
The online gatherings will provide an opportunity for church school leaders to connect with one another, discuss the unique needs and challenges facing parish education programs, and share ideas for future collaboration. Department leaders also hope to learn how they can better support local ministries through additional resources, initiatives, and educational opportunities.
Participants may choose to attend one of two Zoom sessions, scheduled for Monday, July 28, at 7 p.m., or Tuesday, July 29, at 7 p.m. The meetings are open to those involved in parish church schools throughout the Diocese of New York and New Jersey.
According to the department, the conversations are intended to help shape future efforts to strengthen Orthodox Christian formation for children and families. Co-chairs Nanette Riabov and Sarah Bair encouraged parish educators from across the diocese to take part as the department continues developing new ways to support local church school ministries.
