Met. Tikhon Celebrates Patronal Feast at St. Nicholas Cathedral in DC

WASHINGTON, DC — His Beatitude Met. Tikhon of Washington, primate of the Orthodox Church in America, presided over a series of solemn services at St. Nicholas Cathedral over the weekend to mark the cathedral's patronal feast day, honoring St. Nicholas of Myra.

The festivities began on the evening of December 5 with the All-Night Vigil, a traditional Orthodox service of prayer and reflection. Joining Met. Tikhon were key church officials, including Fr. Alessandro Margheritino, the Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, and Fr. David Bozeman, the church's Secretary. They were accompanied by local cathedral clergy and members of the Archdiocese, creating a gathering that underscored the communal spirit of the occasion.

The following morning, on December 6, Met. Tikhon led the hierarchical Divine Liturgy, the central Eucharistic service of the Orthodox tradition. The liturgy drew parishioners and visitors alike to the historic cathedral, located in the heart of the nation's capital, for a day of worship and celebration.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Tikhon addressed those in attendance, emphasizing the enduring legacy of St. Nicholas.
