Ecumenical Patriarch Sends Condolences After Deadly Tragedies
The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed condolences after fatal tragedies in Romania and Greece claimed twelve lives.
CONSTANTINOPLE — Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has sent messages of condolence to several hierarchs of the Church of Greece following two deadly tragedies that claimed multiple lives. The Patriarch addressed Metr. Panteleimon of Veria, Naoussa, and Kampania; Metr. Georgios of Kitros; and Metr. Philotheos of Thessaloniki after a fatal road accident in Romania.
The crash resulted in the deaths of seven young men, supporters of the football club PAOK, and left three others injured. In his messages, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss of young lives, offering prayers for the repose of the deceased and for strength and consolation for their families, as well as a swift recovery for the injured.
In a separate message, Patr. Bartholomew conveyed condolences to Metr. Chrysostomos of Trikki, Gardiki and Pyli after a factory fire in Trikala killed five women workers. He offered heartfelt sympathy to the victims’ families and prayed that God grant them comfort during their mourning.
