Abp. Mark Gives Thanks Following St. Tikhon's Summer Camp 2026

SOUTH CANAAN, PA — Abp. Mark of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania has expressed gratitude to the many clergy, volunteers, staff members, parents, and benefactors whose efforts made the 2026 session of St. Tikhon's Summer Camp a success. In an archpastoral message issued after the camp concluded, he described the annual gathering as an important ministry that helps young Orthodox Christians deepen their faith while building lasting friendships rooted in the life of the Church.

Reflecting on the camp's mission, Abp. Mark emphasized that St. Tikhon's Summer Camp is more than a recreational program, calling it a place where young people encounter Christ through worship, fellowship, and participation in the Orthodox faith. He noted that the experiences shared throughout the week plant spiritual seeds that, with God's help, will continue to bear fruit for years to come. The Archbishop also stressed that Orthodox youth are not simply the Church's future but are active members of the Church today.

Abp. Mark offered special thanks to Camp Director Daniel Peck for his months of preparation and leadership, as well as to Camp Chaplain Fr. Joseph Sharman and the clergy who celebrated the divine services, heard confessions, led workshops, and provided pastoral care. He also recognized counselors, choir directors, activity leaders, kitchen staff, nurses, maintenance workers, media personnel, and numerous volunteers for creating a safe and Christ-centered environment. Concluding his message, the Archbishop assured all those involved of his prayers and expressed hope that they would gather again next summer at St. Tikhon's Monastery and Seminary to continue strengthening the diocese's youth through this ministry.
