Costa Rican Orthodox Mission Celebrates Patronal Slava
Orthodox Christians in Costa Rica gathered to celebrate their patronal feast with worship, fellowship, and a communal meal.
SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA — Orthodox Christians in Costa Rica celebrated the patronal feast of the Mission of St. Peter of Cetinje on October 31, honoring the parish’s heavenly patron with Divine Liturgy and a communal gathering.
Protopriest Ignatius, pastor of the mission, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the ROCOR church dedicated to the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in San José. Faithful from the local Orthodox community attended the service and participated in the traditional Slava celebration.
Following the liturgical services, parishioners gathered for a community lunch, continuing the festivities in fellowship. The celebration brought together Orthodox Christians to honor St. Peter of Cetinje and strengthen ties within the local community.
The Serbian Orthodox parish, located in Curridabat in the San José area, belongs to the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Buenos Aires and South and Central America. Established around 2018, it is part of the growing Orthodox presence in Costa Rica, where Serbian, Russian, and other Orthodox communities maintain a shared religious life.
