Forty years of ministry awards highlighted the volunteers, clergy, and benefactors whose service sustains Orthodox life across New England.

BOSTON — More than 800 clergy, parishioners, family members, and community leaders gathered at Agganis Arena on June 14 as the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston celebrated the 40th Annual Ministry Awards Dinner, honoring faithful service throughout New England.

The sold-out event recognized 73 parishioners from 54 parishes for their dedication to parish life and ministry. Metr. Methodios emphasized that the vitality of the Church depends upon the commitment and sacrificial service of clergy, volunteers, benefactors, and faithful laypeople who support their communities year after year. The evening also marked the 40th anniversary of Philoxenia House, a ministry that provides lodging and support to Orthodox families traveling to Boston for medical treatment.

A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the Metropolitan’s Award to Fr. Peter Chamberas and Fr. Andrew George. Both clergymen were honored for decades of pastoral ministry and service to Orthodox Christians across New England. Guests also heard farewell remarks from Greece’s Consul General in Boston, Symeon Tegos, who reflected on his four years serving the region.

The program included scholarship presentations to eight students, a cultural performance by the Sons and Daughters of Alexander the Great Dance Group, and an update on the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center’s Legacy Campaign. Organizers said the anniversary gathering underscored how the Church continues to flourish through faith, service, and Christian love.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Saint Anastasia Fellowship and FOCUS launched a recovery ministry.
