Rocky Mountain Deanery to Host Orthodox Young Adult Gathering
Orthodox young adults from the Rocky Mountain Deanery will gather in Colorado Springs this October for fellowship, discussion, worship, and the first of a planned series of regular diocesan events.
COLORADO SPRINGS — The Diocese of the West will hold a Young Adult Gathering for Orthodox Christians ages 18 to 29 from the Rocky Mountain Deanery on October 23-24 at Holy Theophany Church in Colorado Springs.
The gathering will follow the Diocese of the West's annual assembly, which will also be hosted by Holy Theophany Church. Organizers said the event is part of a broader effort to strengthen community and deepen the faith of young adults throughout the diocese.
The program will focus on fellowship, with presentations and discussions addressing the challenges of an increasingly digital world and their effects on human attention, intelligence, emotions, and belief. Bp. Vasily is expected to address the participants.
The Rocky Mountain gathering is intended to be the first in a series of regular young adult events across the Diocese of the West's four regional deaneries. The gatherings are planned to foster belonging, friendship, mentorship, and stronger Christian community among young Orthodox adults.
The weekend will begin with a square dance on Friday, October 23, and conclude with a celebratory dinner following Vespers on Saturday, October 24. Registration costs $90, with additional speakers and discussion topics to be announced. A hotel room block is available for out-of-town participants, and registration closes October 1.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the Diocese of the West hosted a youth social in San Francisco.
