Antiochian Archdiocese Holds 2026 Youth and Young Adult Summit
Antiochian youth ministry leaders gathered in Pennsylvania to strengthen parish programs, develop future initiatives, and honor a longtime ministry pioneer's legacy.
BOLIVAR, PA — The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese held its 2026 Youth & Young Adult Summit October 22–25 at the Antiochian Village Conference Center, bringing together 81 participants from 46 parishes across the United States and Canada.
Organized by the Department of Youth & Young Adult Ministries, the gathering centered on the theme “Instructed by God, Forming the World.” Fr. George Parsenios, Professor of New Testament at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, delivered the keynote address, encouraging reflection on Christian formation and the role of young people in the world. Daily Matins and Vespers framed the weekend’s presentations and workshops.
Sessions addressed camping, Christian education, teen ministry, and young adult ministry. Presenters included Fr. Michael Nasser, Sh. Shell Keim, Fr. Gregory Abdalah, and Dr. Ann Bezzerides. Participants also developed strategic initiatives for the coming year and discussed ways to strengthen youth ministry across the Archdiocese.
A special Friday evening gathering honored the legacy of Fr. John Namie, whose work helped shape youth ministry at Antiochian Village and throughout the Archdiocese. Attendees watched a 1998 interview with Fr. John and heard Bp. Thomas share personal reflections on his influence.
The summit concluded Sunday with Hierarchical Divine Liturgy celebrated by Bp. Thomas, as participants departed with renewed relationships and plans for continued cooperation in serving Orthodox youth and young adults.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the Greek Orthodox young adult conference returned after a 16-year hiatus.
