An Orlando Antiochian Orthodox parish prayed for the victims of the deadly Jordan church attack and for the consolation of their families.

ORLANDO, FL — St. Barbara Antiochian Orthodox Church in Orlando held a memorial service on October 25 for the nine people killed in an October 23 attack on St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan.

The service followed a call from Metr. Saba, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of All North America, urging Antiochian Orthodox parishes throughout North America to pray for the victims and their families. In a message to Metr. Christophoros of Jordan, Metr. Saba expressed solidarity with those affected and pointed to faith in the Resurrection as a source of hope amid violence and suffering.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Stephen Adili led a Trisagion memorial service for the victims. Parishioners prayed for the repose of the departed, the recovery of those injured, and consolation for the bereaved families.

“The world is starving for peace, and no darkness can overcome the light of the Lord,” Fr. Adili said.

The memorial held particular significance for Antiochian Orthodox communities in North America, many of whose members maintain family and cultural ties to the Middle East and the Patriarchate of Antioch. St. Barbara parish continues to call for prayers for the victims, the injured, and peace and security for the people of Jordan.
