YONKERS, NY — Seminarians of the Orthodox Church in America’s (OCA) Diocese of the South and their families met with Bp. Gerasim on Nov. 2 following his election as Bishop of Dallas and the Diocese of the South.

The Holy Synod elected Bp. Gerasim during its meeting at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. That evening, the seminarians and their families gathered with the newly elected bishop for fellowship and conversation.

The diocesan announcement described the gathering as an opportunity to emphasize the connection between the seminarians’ preparation for ministry and the wider life of the diocese. The seminarians’ families also participated in the evening, which brought together those preparing for future service in the Church and their relatives.

The Diocese of the South called on the faithful to pray for Bp. Gerasim, the diocesan seminarians, and their families following the election. The announcement concluded with a prayer that God grant the newly elected bishop wisdom, strength, and many years.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Bp. Gerasim led a liturgy at St. Innocent Parish for their founding anniversary.
