CHICAGO — Clergy and faithful of the Diocese of Chicago and the Midwest gathered at Holy Trinity Cathedral on June 25 and 26 to celebrate the annual feast of the wonderworking Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, one of the most significant observances in the diocesan calendar.

The celebration began on Thursday evening with the All-Night Vigil, led by His Eminence Abp. Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest and concelebrated by clergy from across the Chicago Deanery. Liturgical responses were sung by the Chicago Deanery Male Choir under the direction of Rdr. Philip Sokolov, helping to mark the beginning of the feast with solemn prayer and hymnography.

The following day, at the invitation of Abp. Daniel, His Grace Bp. Spyridon of Chicago and Mid-America (ROCOR) presided at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Concelebrating with the hierarchs were clergy from the OCA and ROCOR, including diocesan chancellor Archpriest Herman Kincaid, cathedral dean Priest Alexander Koranda, and several priests and deacons serving throughout the region. The liturgical responses were directed by Rdr. Vladimir Lymar.

Following the Divine Liturgy, prayers were offered to the Mother of God. Abp. Daniel welcomed Bp. Spyridon and expressed gratitude to the clergy and faithful who had gathered to honor the wonderworking icon and participate in the diocesan feast. The celebration concluded with a festive reception held in the cathedral courtyard.

Previously, the UOJ reported that the Monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk hosted a Nativity conference.
