St. Sava Academy Opens School Year With Record Enrollment

CHICAGO — St. Sava Academy has begun the 2026–2027 academic year with a record enrollment of 230 students, expanded faculty, and extensive improvements to its campus.

The school year officially opened with the traditional Invocation of the Holy Spirit, known in Serbian as "Priziv Svetoga Duha." Cathedral clergy, teachers, students, and families gathered to pray for wisdom, health, and spiritual guidance for the students as they begin another year of Orthodox education.

This year's enrollment represents the highest in the academy's history. New educators have also joined the faculty to support the school's bilingual and classical curriculum amid the continued growth of its student body.

Over the summer, the academy completed a series of major capital improvements. The gymnasium, cafeteria, and kitchen were renovated, classrooms were reconfigured for collaborative learning, and new flooring was installed throughout the educational spaces.

Metr. Longin described the academy's growth as “a true blessing and a testament to the dedication of our families and community.” He said the school serves as “a beacon of Orthodox Christian education,” seeking to form both “sharp minds” and “pious hearts” grounded in the faith and legacy of St. Sava.

The diocese also congratulated the academy's administration, faculty, cathedral clergy, school board, benefactors, and parents, crediting their continued support with strengthening the school's role in youth education and spiritual formation.
