Patriarchate of Antioch affirms faith and resilience after deadly attack in June.

DAMASCUS — In the wake of the devastating attack on Prophet Elias Church in Dweilaa in June, which claimed the lives of dozens of faithful, the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East has announced that restoration work on the church will commence next week.

Despite the tragedy, the Church reaffirms the unwavering faith of its people and the continuation of liturgical life. Until restoration is complete, prayers will be held in the church hall.

“As we remain hopeful, we affirm our steadfastness in our faith and our rejection of all fear and dread,” the Patriarchate stated. “We ask the Lord God to guide the ship of our salvation amid the waves of this world, for He is eternally blessed.”

Donations can still be made here for the survivors and families of those who were martyred in the terrorist attack.

Previously, UOJ reported that a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy was celebrated at Prophet Elias Church in the Dweilaa district of Damascus on July 26 to mark 40 days since the deadly attack that claimed the lives of numerous worshipers.
