Prayer, play, and a legendary water balloon fight defined the first full day of St. Tikhon's Summer Camp.

SOUTH CANAAN, PA. — Campers at St. Tikhon's Summer Camp marked the Feast of the Holy Glorious Apostles Peter and Paul on June 29 with a day that combined liturgical worship, recreational activities, and fellowship, reflecting the camp's mission of nurturing Orthodox Christian faith and community.

The day began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy for the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. His Eminence Abp. Mark presided from the throne, while Priest Paul Witek, rector of All Saints Church in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, and academic dean of St. Tikhon's Theological Seminary, delivered the homily during the clergy communion. He was joined by the camp chaplain and other clergy from the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. Liturgical responses were led by Rdr. Samuel Regen.

Following the morning services, campers participated in a range of activities, including swimming, boating, workshops, and instructional sessions. Opportunities to paint icons, learn traditional dance, and practice liturgical music complemented the camp's recreational offerings and encouraged both spiritual and personal growth.

One of the day's highlights came after dinner, when campers and counselors gathered for the annual water balloon fight, a longstanding camp tradition marked by laughter and friendly competition. The day concluded with Daily Vespers, served by Fr. Paul Witek, underscoring the camp's emphasis on integrating worship and fellowship into every aspect of camp life.

Previously, the UOJ reported that St. Andrew's Camp announced its Summer 2026 program lineup.
